Hi, I am Lavan Kumar Baskaran Product Designer

10 years of turning enterprise complexity into products people actually want to use

Available for Work Based in Denver, CO

Open to Senior Product Designer roles. Full-time, remote or hybrid.

Senior product designer with ten years across B2B SaaS and consumer concepts — healthcare call centers, learning platforms, BI tooling, and self-directed product work. I take on the kind of design problems where the constraints are real: legacy systems, regulated industries, and users with no patience for tutorials.

Services

  • My product design work focuses on building tools that people actually want to use at work. I design end-to-end flows for B2B SaaS and enterprise platforms, balancing user needs with business goals to create interfaces that feel clear, useful, and worth coming back to. I work closely with product and engineering from concept through launch, and I stay involved past release because the real test of a design is what happens after it ships.

  • I look at the full experience a person has with a product or organization, not just the part that lives on a screen. By mapping the people, processes, and touchpoints involved, I help teams design services that feel coherent from the first interaction to the last. The result is fewer broken handoffs and a clearer story for everyone involved, including the internal teams responsible for delivering the work day after day.

  • My research approach combines interviews, observation, and behavioral studies to understand what users actually do, not just what they say. I translate those findings into clear direction, so design and product teams can move forward with confidence instead of guesswork. Every project ends with recommendations the team can act on right away, not just a deck of insights, and I document the methodology so the work stays useful long after the engagement.

  • I build visual systems that give a product a voice and hold up as it grows. Working across typography, color, and layout, I create design languages that feel intentional on day one and still make sense to a new designer joining the team a year later. I treat the system as a living tool, not a finished artifact, and pair it with documentation that shows when to follow the rules and when there's room to break them.

  • My usability work puts real users in front of real flows to see where things click and where they break. I run moderated and unmoderated sessions across early prototypes and live products, and turn the results into a clear list of fixes the team can ship. Findings come with priorities, not just observations, so the work moves forward, and I'm happy to sit with engineers afterward to make sure the fixes actually solve what users hit.

  • My audits give teams an honest read on where a product is working and where it isn't. I review existing experiences against task flows, accessibility, and heuristics, then deliver a prioritized list tied to user impact and business value, not personal preference. The output is something the team can plan against, not just a report to file away, and I'll sit with product leads to walk through the findings and turn them into a roadmap the team can commit to.

Process

How I Work

Problem Framing

It starts with your project request. I listen carefully to understand your needs and ideas, then explore insights and market context to clearly define the problem. Research findings translate into ideas that shape direction, inform decisions, and establish a strong foundation — turning your goals into a clear starting point for the work ahead.

01

Shaping the Idea

Research, synthesis, and process work that turns a vague brief into a clear concept. User interviews, behavioural observation, and competitive analysis surface what people actually need — then a structured design process turns that into testable directions that balance strategy with imagination.

02

Design & Development

With a clear concept in hand, design takes shape. I weave together visual elements, interaction patterns, and a scalable design system into prototypes that bring the vision to life — then validate them through real-world testing to make sure every detail performs the way it should.

03

Test & Polish

I validate functionality, usability, and clarity through iterative testing — refining details, resolving issues, and presenting work for your feedback along the way. Every round of revision sharpens the product against high standards of quality, ensuring the final result aligns with your vision and performs flawlessly when it ships.

04

Handoff & Launch

From handoff to launch, I stay embedded with the development team — sharing annotated specs, design tokens, and component documentation, then actively reviewing builds, catching design drift, and resolving edge cases as they surface. The goal: what ships looks and behaves exactly like what was designed.
